The PoE switch TL-SF1008P is a desktop device enabling smooth data transmission in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet networks. Its eight RJ45 ports support auto-negotiation function, four of them provide power over Ethernet (PoE function). The switch automatically detects PD devices compliant with IEEE 802.3af standard and provides them with power supply. This feature allows the user to expand the network coverage in areas where there is no access to AC power lines/outlets and employ access points, IP cameras, IP phones, etc.
The switch has the priority* function which helps protect main function(s) of the system in case of overloading. The maximum power consumption (by all the PoE devices) cannot exceed 53 W. In case of overloading, the switch will cut off the power to devices connected to ports with lower priority.
* Remark: order of priority: port-1 > port-2 > port-3 > port-4. This feature ensures an interrupted power supply for the most important PoE components of the system in case of overloading (they should use the PoE ports with lower numbers).
An example: ports 1,2 and 4 provide 15.4 W each (the maximum values), giving in total 46.2 W (PoE LED lights up red). Connecting another device (consuming e.g. 10 W) to the port 3, the switch cuts off power to the port 4 (for the device with the lowest priority), to preserve the total power capacity of 53 W.
The TL-SF1008P switch is easy to install and use. It requires no installation or configuration. This desktop device is a great selection for expanding home or office network, especially when there is a need to use PoE equipment.
