Intertelecom 2004 - it looks good

Intertelecom 2004 (2 – 4th of March. %u0141ód%u017A) - looking good. There are about 250 exhibitors who have shown up at the event. According to the statement made by the organizers of this event 75 % of all the participants took part in the very event last year. Their visit this year may only attest that they have benefited in promoting their products at the exhibition in %u0141ód%uFFFD.
Assuming that all of them have conducted a deep analysis of their possible sales, on this basis one may be tempted to assess the condition as well as trends in the communication market.
Definitely the most distinctive accent is coming from the wireless communication .

Beginning with giant operators (Era, Polkomtel) and communication systems intended for them (Kathrein - antenna systems, Nera - radioline), through offers connected with building hot spot (Veracomp – Nokia, Alvarion, Proxim) and ending with end-user products (Fen – Linksys, Atel, Veracomp, Kooku). Measuring and testing instruments have also been available (Rhode Schwarz).
Another tendency is the appearance of small and medium size manufacturers, companies especially from Great Britain (Cv Comms Ltd, Levacom Ltd, Tuk Ltd, Waldon Telecom Ltd, Vegestream and the Czech Republic (Saltek, Tesla), which may mean on one hand the willingness to find partners in the EU market and on the other prospects of an open telecommunication market.

The event has presented an excellent assortment of cables and fiber optics from FCA, Telefonika, Lanex, Microsens, Sotronic, Samsung, Telindus, Optometr, Draka, Technokabel, Bitner.

Interesting concepts have been demonstrated in the network communication sector . Siemens has presented a device named SURPASS hiX which helps telecommunication operators with building and developing access systems which utilize traditional technology (ATM/TDM) and their flexible integration into NGN networks (NGN - Next Generation Network).
Atel has shown a device for VOiP transmission– the phone and gate.

The selection of xDSL modems has been rather poor - even Telindus, who at CeBIT presented the whole array of DSL modems, at the Intertelecom has decided to show their fiber optic welding machines and fiber optic teasting equipment. At the Sprint pavilion (partner of Lucent Technologies) DSL modem manufactured by XAVI has been displayed for visitors. This mode is sold by many "makers" under their own brand (Lucent, Erricsson, Iskratel). It seems that it is just a matter of time and there will be only a handful of xDSL modem manufacturers left.

A huge pavilion of C&C Partners, where a twisted pair cat.6 and cabling for inteligent buildings have found their central position. They also included wiring for single family homes - domNET.

Among the Polish products, in our opinion, the most interesting are terminal for CDMA network – by RWT, serwer Milenium by DGT and telecommunication containers (G.B. Gara%u017Ce).

Due to the change of certification method in Poland Polish labs have become more active (Instytut %u0141%u0105czno%u015Bci, Wojskowy Instytut %u0141%u0105czno%u015Bci)

Triple band antenna from Kathrein, working in the GSM bands 806-960, DCS 1710-1880 and UMTS 1920-2170 MHz. The main characteristic of this antenna is a remote electric tilt.

Base station powering system from Electronic Systems integrates all power supply devices (including base station batteries) in one housing, which also provides space for BS transmission and reception equipment. The housing ensures the right temperature compliant with ETSI standard. The internal temperature will be maintained in the range of +5 - + 55 degrees while the external temerature ranges from -33 to +40 degrees. It is watertight in accordence with IP55 standard. In addition, the housing is equipped with alarm system which signals powering problems.

System LexCom demonstrated by Elda allows a transmission of signals from phones, computer networks, and TV networks. It is based on FTP cables only. For each input there are 2 or 3 FTP cables (telephone, network, TV), which are connected on the panel to a TV amplifier which has only one input for 75 Ohm coaxial cable and 4 symetric outputs for 100 Ohm RJ-45.

CDMA on the offensive. RWT is starting a production of FCT-CDMA terminals. Similarly to FCT-4500 (working with NMT-450 network), FCT-CDMA is an end-user wireless terminal that works in WLL (Wireless Local Loop) and CDMA2000 standard.

A logarithmic measuring antenna APL-200/1000 intended for testing radio emission of manufacturing equipment, which may prove very valuable, especially during measuring electromagnetic disturbances. It works in the band range from 200 to 1000MHz. Instytut %u0141%u0105czno%u015Bci of Wroclaw is a maker of this product.

Tsunami MT-11a is one of the most popular access points that works in the 5GHz band. The main feature of this product is an automatic selection of the channel that it is working in, which accommodates a network start-up and eliminates interference of other networks. The version presented works in the 5.470-5.725GHz band (1W) in one of the 11 channels.

The basic element of systems that work in the VHF range – antenna ADT 5607 by a Chech manufacturer, Tesla. From e.g 20 such elements the circular polarized systems are built as well as those having high vertical polarization, which is rather desirable in transmission centers. Each element gives additional 8 dBd, max power 1kW, WFS <1.2 in the whole band, very popluar connectors 7/16.

2.4 GHz WLAN amplifiers from Aspco which enables to achieve power of 1W (30dBm). It has a gain control of 10 dB during transmission and 11dB at reception. Powered by a cable. It comes in 2 versions; internal and external.

Nera is one of the most prominent makers of radioline. In the frequencies of a few dozens of GHz (due to a high attenuation of cables) an additional signal is transmitted over middle frequencies. The conversion of the signal is done in the device located on the antenna, which, to a great extent, reduces the complexity of of the devices used.

2.4 GHz Internal antennas for networks made by Kathrein. One can not help to notice the attempt to match the style of these antenas to the overall indoor appearance.
