ULTIMODE FAST quick assembly connectors allow fiber termination with SC connectors without time-consuming gluing and polishing. The procedure does no require "sterile" conditions, because the end face of the built-in fiber fragment has been glued and polished by the manufacturer. The low loss at the level of 0.25 dB is obtained thanks to advanced positioning of the inserted fiber end by V-shaped grooves. The optical gel that is also used in the connectors reduces the effects of an imprecise cut and a possible gap between the end faces of the fibers.
Installation of ULTIMODE FAST-02SC L5711
1. Strip the cable with outer diameter of 3 mm or 2 mm to the 0.250 mm cladding over the length of 40-50 mm. Insert the bare fiber to the ST-195 L5561 stripper until it stops and remove the 0.250 mm cladding to the 0.125 mm core. The stripper leaves 19.5 mm length of the 0.250 mm fiber diameter. The ST-195 stripper has been specially designed to simplify and accelerate the termination of optical fibers with ULTIMODE fast connectors.
2. Cut the fiber core with the diameter of 0.125 mm to a length of 6 mm. A properly prepared fiber end is presented in the figure above.
3. Remove the stock from the ULTIMODE FAST connector. The properly prepared and cleaned fiber gently insert into the body until you feel resistance.
4. After insertion of the fiber into the body of the fast connector, fix the cable jacket with a diameter of 2-3 mm by pressing it into the pocket with locking points. A complete stabilization of the cable sheath is obtained by turning the latch.
5. In order to position the fiber in V-grooves, press the locking button located on the body.
6. As the last step, put on the connector protective casing.
Quick assembly connectors ULTIMODE FAST-02SC and ULTIMODE FAST-05SC/APC are made using the same technology. The difference lies in the ferrule which guides and encloses the optical fiber in the connector. The ferrule end face (contact area) in the FAST-02SC connector is flat, while in the FAST-05SC/APC connector it is polished at an angle of 8o, which lowers back reflection.
