ULTIMAX is a series of 3rd generation digital video recorders, with implemented, so far the most efficient, H.264 compression. More information is provided in the article "ULTIMAX - the market leader in digital CCTV recording".

ULTIMAX-204 M72040 is capable of recording video with 4CIF (704 x 576) maximum resolution and 6 fps rate (each channel) or 2CIF (704 x 288) and 12 fps (each channel). These parameters are suitable for CCTV systems requiring high resolution video, but not used in dynamic environments, where frame rate of 6 fps can be fully satisfactory. The device supports all advanced functions implemented in the series, first of all - local recording and network transmission based on H.264 compression, providing good video quality at substantially lower bitrates than the previous standards, saving available disk capacity and bandwidth of the network. In addition, the DVR is small and light.
ULTIMAX DVRs can be operated via IP networks with ULTIMAX Client software. The software enables full configuration and operation of ULTIMAX DVRs, ULTINET video servers and ULTICAM cameras. More about the capabilities of this software you can read in the article above.

HDD capacity calculation: assessment of the total volume for recording video data requires adoption of certain record parameters and video storage time. The formula below gives the amount of disc space (in MB) for saving one hour recording from one channel:

ULTIMAX Remote Client Software also allows remote setup of DVR parameters:
- Choice of channel to be modified.

- Frame rate: full (PAL: 25FPS, NTSC: 30FPS), 20, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16.
- Maximum bitrate: 32kbps, 48kbps, 64kbps, 80kbps, 96kbps, 128kbps, 160kbps, 192kbps, 224kbps, 256kbps, 320kbps, 384kbps, 448kbps, 512kbps, 640kbps, 768kbps, 896kbps, 1Mbps, 1,25Mbps, 1,5Mbps, 1,75Mbps, 2Mbps, 4Mbps, 8Mbps, or "Self definition".
- Resolution: by default - CIF, other options are QCIF, 2CIF, and 4CIF.
- Image quality: 6 options (only effective for variable bitrate option).
