Distinguishing features:

OPTOKON PM-212 is an advanced meter designed to measure optical power loss in fiber networks based on multimode and single-mode fibers. The meter is calibrated to measure optical power at six wavelengths (nm): 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, and 1625. It is possible to set 0 dB reference level so as to make the measurements of optical path easier. The meter is equipped with a tip that allows measurements of optical power in optical paths terminated with connectors with 2.5 mm ferrules. The accuracy of measurements is better than 5%.

The meter is powered by an internal NiMH rechargeable battery that (fully charged) allows for continuous operation of the meter up to 100 hours. The life cycle of the battery is minimum 5 years. Built-in memory can store up to 256 measurements which can be exported to a PC via Hyper Terminal program. All the necessary drivers needed for communication of the PM-212 meter with a computer are included on the resource CD-ROM.

The PM-212 meter indicates absolute optical power levels in dBm and relative levels with respect to a reference level in dB.

Thanks to small dimensions (24 x 47 x 71 mm) and low weight (0.09 kg), the meter can be conveniently carried in its carrying case attached to a trouser belt.

The optical power meter requires a light source, to be bought separately. As the light source there can be also employed video converters or media converters from ULTIMODE series.
